The {gifting} edit: shop local this festive season

The CATHERINEGRACE gift guide | www.catherinegrace.com.au

If there are two things I LOVE its finding the perfect gift for my loved ones and supporting local creative Australians and Australian owned boutiques. So, I’ve combined the two and done the running around for you this festive season. All of the suggestions below are either designed or made in Australia or, for the international items, I have linked to an Australian owned boutique where you can purchase the item. All can be bought online, meaning Christmas shopping is even easier.

Want more? I’ve teamed up with a number of our local designers and boutiques to bring you exclusive discounts and a competition to win items from my gift guide. {Editor’s note: the competition to win items has now closed – winners have been announced below and on Instagram} Seasons greetings lovely readers…

FOR EVERYONE

It may not be the sexiest gift, it is not really Instagram-able and it is virtually impossible to style. However, in my opinion, it is the perfect gift – a double gift if you will {triple maybe!}. Find a charity that resonates with your loved one and make a donation on their behalf. Many charities will send a gift note to the recipient, letting them know of the donation. And for those who do their shopping super last-minute – a donation can be purchased online, mere moments before its time to unwrap the gifts! My husband and I switch up our chosen charities every couple of years, depending on what is happening in our life and the lives of our friends. At the moment we donate to The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Foundation – an integrated cancer treatment centre at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. Not only was Chris O’Brien one of my father’s colleagues, we have two good friends who have been treated there. I also love what OzHarvest is doing – collecting quality surplus food from commercial outlets and delivering it to charities around Australia. Of course these are just two of many wonderful charities – pick your favourite and donate, donate, donate!
