My cousin marries her beau in the beautiful Kangaroo ValleyMy family home is on the same street as my cousin’s family home, in fact if you double her house number you get ours! We spent summers in each others pools, went to the same school a few years apart and have pretty much been inseparable for most of our life. So her wedding day was always going to be a special one, however, even I couldn’t have dreamt up such a perfect day…
Sarah & Dan organised a weekend away, choosing to celebrate with family and friends in the picturesque Kangaroo Valley. Located on Melross Farm, the stunning Millet House formed the backdrop to their day, with a civil ceremony out front and a marquee assembled at the back. And the best part about having it all in the one place: there were celebratory drinks before the ceremony started – now that is my kind of wedding!
It was a steamy Autumn day and the clouds threaten to open, and did just briefly, mere moments before we assembled for the ceremony and then, the sun came out over the hills surrounding the valley. Truly spectacular.
Jane from Floreat Floral, my go-to florist and one of Sarah’s friends, perfectly captured the brief of a sophisticated elegant wedding, in the country – not a country styled wedding. I provided floral headpieces for the bride and her flower girls, after Sarah {unexpectedly} enjoyed wearing her hens party headpiece and wanted a slightly smaller version for her wedding day.
Sarah & Dan had pretty much everything organised, however they asked me to assist with a few styling ideas, including for the planks above the tables. Floreat Floral added foliage and I suggested LED tea lights wrapped in translucent baking paper tied with black string sourced from Koskela.
I was also asked to design the stationery for the day – the Order of Service, menu/drinks cards, seating plan, place cards and a little sign near the cake thanking Dan’s Auntie for making it {and it was delicious!}
As evening fell, We Play Records played, the real-deal, old school records, there was eating and drinking aplenty and everyone danced and danced and danced.
A very special day celebrating a very special couple, captured beautifully by photographer Tim Coulson.
Darling Catherine – thank you for all your tireless support and help in making our engagement party, the hen’s party AND our wedding such fabulous occasions for us. Words cannot say thank you enough! xxx sar
