It started with a roll of ribbon…

…and it spiralled from there.

.

As soon as I saw the purplish/grey of this silk grosgrain ribbon at my favourite stationery store, Papier D’Amour in Double Bay, I knew it would be the inspiration for the styling for my very own wedding.  I wanted “modern elegance”, consistency from invites through to thank you cards and nothing that screamed “matchy-matchy”.

.

I find that using a ribbon, colour, shape, monogram, font or theme throughout the wedding styling can help to bring the whole day together and link everything from the invitation, to the ceremony, to the all night party and through to the glowing aftermath and thank you notes.  Even when brides want an eclectic or boho style wedding I still find that a common theme or item can keep the day cohesive to ensure it does look eclectic or boho, and not just “messy”.

.

For my wedding I purchased rolls and rolls of the grosgrain, in various widths from 6mm to 50 mm and used it throughout the event and fashion styling for the day.

.

You really can use ribbon on just about anything, especially all the stationary.  we used the ribbon to
.
…create my belt (made of 50 mm grosgrain, that we had tailored into a “Grace Kelly” bow belt)
.
.
.
…hold together the bridal and bridesmaids bouquets (25mm)
.
.
…hold together the boys buttonholes (6mm)
.
.
…tie the Order of Service (6mm)
.
.
… adorn the menu place cards (15mm) and tie a little note to the bonbonniere (6mm)
.
.
.
.
…decorate the lolly bar and tie on the lolly labels (15mm)
.
.
.
.
.
.
…and more!
.
.
.
.
.
Even our family lab joined in on the fun!
